The Conservative now UKIP guy will retain his seat in this massive waste of money.
More interesting for UKIP will be their performance in the Heywood & Middleton by election which is a safe Labour seat where the MP died.

Ukip will win comfortably. Probably by 15,000.

Politics won't change much in the short term but there are two issues that may change Ukip and the conservatives for good out of Calcton.

1. For the conservatives we have to beat Reckless in Rochester. If we do it will stop the bleed.
2. For ukip, it's depends on whether they can hold Calcton in a general (I think they can) and where else do they get seats. Carswell isn't going to be quiet which won't sit with well with Farage and if Farage doesn't win in May you're looking at Carswell maybe becoming leader.

Exactly Sven. Labour ought to win. They ought to have put up more of a fight in Calcton too. Blair won it twice.

As much as I like some of what UKIP say, a vote for UKIP is a vote for Labour.

Cameron is right, go to bed with Farage and wake up with Milliband.

ever being responsible for changing the face of anything forever

The Conservatives will never win Clacton if they keep calling it Calcton.
The rancid coffin dodgers who make up the electorate are I imagine very pedantic on things like that.

By-elections hardly ever influence the result of a General Election even this close to the latter. As that very wise if debauched politician Bill Clinton used to say " It's the economy ,stupid." If nothing untoward happens in the next 6 months,I'd guess the Tories will squeak back with or without coalition partners.

The Calcton voters wouldn't like me. I'd be too brutally honest.

Don't imagine they'd be overjoyed that you haven't found a nice girl to settle down with either.

They might consider 'you being honest' a refreshing change.

I know I would.

Why is Clacton so right wing anyway, ted son?

There's none of them outsiders there anyway.

How many times will 'changing tides' be mentioned in the papers?
